What do you do when you find an old record cabinet sitting under a pile of wood in the back of the ReUse store. Well if your my husband — you buy it!
This old Silvertone record cabinet came home with us. It didn’t work anymore as it had lost some of its rhythm, along with handles, a back and with those scratches it didn’t play very well for a home furniture piece. We helped make it sing again but this time as a bar cabinet that you can place in any room and still have it stylish!
We started thinking Pottery Barn style which to use meant black, wine holder and storage. We took it apart and let’s say that was a job. Also included a few sneezing fits with all the old dust particles.
Many pieces had to be custom made and pieced together, like that wine holder section. Did I say many pieces and did I mention it became like a puzzle. This cabinet became a labor of hours and dedication.
The top was stripped and stained in Dark Walnut with three coats of Poly to help it withstand any water or mixer splashes. We painted it with General Finishes Lamp Black and gave it a final protective coat in General Finishes High Performance in Satin. Some new hardware and we think it’s simply stunning! I hope you do too.
Did you notice that each of the top doors open down and the side doors swing open, really all the sections can hold anything you need to mix a cocktail or throw a dinner party!
Now the before and after for the final impact of how awesome this is!
