I love color. I love to have a pop of color in the room. I think dressers are a great way to add that color to a bedroom. However, I may be turning a corner here and changing my mind. We refinished two dressers in a beautiful white called Lacey White by Benjamin Moore. These may now be my favorite!
These were sanded and that old finish you could almost pick it off with your finger nail. So after sanding it down, we used a good primer and then two coats of paint. A little distressing and then some stain to bring out the details of the distressed areas. A finishing wax was applied after they were sanded with 400 grit sand paper so it’s super smooth.
The hardware was painted an oil rubbed bronze as the old finish was old and dingy. I think it gives it a pop against the white.
The tops were done first. I think Bob used the Citrus stripper about three times on each piece. It was then stained in Jacobean with a wipe on poly varnish for hardening.
Did you also notice that these had cedar in the drawers and a ring holder and some of the drawers even had dividers. I think that fits with my organizing mind very well. Dividers in drawers! Yes! Drexel knew how to make these solid. I think they will last for years to come!
These beauties found a home from the Antiques Market sale and she’s loving them.
